Consolidated Car Rental Facility (CONRAC)
JA Watts, Inc. (JWI) is a valued team member to the Austin Power Partners JV (APP), who has been selected to construct the new joint-use Consolidated Car Rental Facility (CONRAC) at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. The parking structure is a multimodal transportation center combining airline, light transit, rail, bus, shuttle as well as both rental and privately owned vehicles at one location to facilitate travel within the Chicago region and to destinations throughout the world. Three (3) floors are dedicated to rental car operations, three (3) floors to public parking, and additional floors of public parking in the future. At more than 3 million gross square feet, the facility will become one of the largest structures in the Midwest. The functional and visual focal point of the building is the Customer Service Center and the Airport Transit System station. The design combines these two operations into one space that creates another “terminal” for the airport.
JWI provides the APP team with a QA Manager, a BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordinator/Project Engineer and a Scheduler/Project Engineer. The QA Manager’s role is to ensure the work conforms to the project’s rigorous plans and specifications. Responsibilities include the quality assurance and related documentation of all trades’ work from the ground up. The BIM Coordinator’s primary role is ensuring there are no mechanical / electrical /plumbing and fire protection conflicts in both the site work and the building’s MEP components. The Scheduler/Project Engineer is primarily responsible the development and the maintenance of the project’s overall schedule using scheduling software, Primavera P6, as well as daily assistance in processing submittals and RFI’s.
JWI is proud to serve the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) as the construction manager by providing design management, pre-construction scheduling and estimating services, and document control. Throughout construction, JWI will continue to provide budget and schedule management, on site construction management and inspection, implement important safety procedures, and ensure the project is properly closed out.
