IDOT I-55 Resurfacing

JWI provided construction inspection services as a subconsultant to Wight & Company for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s resurfacing project in Will, DuPage, and Cook Counties.  The project began at a point on the centerline of Interstate 55 (FAI 55) at approximately 1,000 feet east of Weber Road and extended in a northerly direction to approximately 1,395 feet east of Willow Springs Road and at a location in the median east of Pulaski Road.  The locations included the Villages of Bolingbrook, Woodridge, Romeoville, Darian, Burr Ridge, Willowbrook, and the City of Chicago, and had a gross length of 77,248 feet (14.6 miles) and a net length of 78,770 feet (14.9 miles).

 

PROJECT BACKGROUND

This was a resurfacing project and the work performed under this contract consisted of pavement patching, milling of existing HMA surface, placing polymerized hot-mix asphalt binder course SMA and surface course SMA, HMA surface course (Mixture D), placement of pavement markings, bridge deck repairs and bridge joint repairs, installation of fiber optic infrastructure, drainage spot improvements, weed spraying, and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans.
