O'Hare International Airport Terminal 5 East Checkpoint Expansion

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) knew there was a shortage in screening capacity at O’Hare International Airport’s (ORD) Terminal 5. An additional checkpoint on the eastern end of the terminal was deemed necessary by TSA, the Chicago Airlines Terminal Consortium (CATCo) and the CDA.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

JWI served as the project manager, overseeing the construction of the new checkpoint to include two TSA security lanes, a private screening room, a hazmat storage room, and a new TSA break room.

The project scope included both secured and unsecured work, for this reason, JWI added barricades in accordance with CDA Security regulations, which heightened security during the construction phase.

On this project, JWI worked with skillful design and construction teams who expedited the entire design and construction process. With JWI’s oversight the T5 Checkpoint Expansion project was completed early and under budget.
