A smoother drive often starts where drivers least expect it: at the toll plaza.
JWI is currently providing Construction Management services for the Illinois Tollway on the Toll Plaza Improvements and Bridge Rehabilitation project at the Golf Road Toll Plaza on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in Cook County, Illinois.
As a prime on this contract, our team is responsible for PCC and HMA pavement reconstruction, existing structure demolition, barrier wall construction, and the installation of new drainage systems. Additional improvements include new and upgraded tolling systems, a new precast control building, and electrical and fiber optic network enhancements to support toll operations.
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) improvements are also being implemented, along with ongoing maintenance of traffic (MOT) measures to ensure safe travel throughout construction. Bridge rehabilitation activities are included as part of the overall effort to extend the service life of existing infrastructure
Once complete, it will modernize the Golf Road Toll Plaza, improving traffic flow and addressing aging infrastructure for both northbound and southbound traffic on I-294. Building on the progress here, JWI will continue supporting the Illinois Tollway with additional Plaza Improvements beginning this spring.
The biggest improvements on the road happen on the smallest stretches, and we look forward to improving the driver experience on our roadways.
