The Club at MDW

Overview

JWI was awarded the project management role for The Club MDW, a 3,400 sf airport lounge at Midway International Airport, with a notice-to-proceed date in January of 2024. This is the first club in the airport’s 95-year history. JWI recommended the local and MBE design team, Fujikawa Johnson Gobel (FJG), and attended design meetings to ensure a complete understanding of the club’s design elements and needs. JWI managed the pre-construction process to identify a General Contractor who exceeded Airport Dimensions’ expectations for quality and schedule.

JWI’s relationships with contractors and airport personnel help to facilitate construction activities and minimize potential impacts. For example, as-built drawings were not available for the metal panels at the tug way, the shortlisted GC investigated further, and an electrician whom JWI has extensively worked with in the past, directed them to another area where the metal panels had been partially removed, providing a more thorough understanding of how the metal panels are to be removed and replaced, firming up their price.

JWI’s proactive approach to project management helps identify issues before they become problems and facilitates their resolution, ensuring neither the budget nor the schedule is impacted. Our team’s attention to detail also allows Airport Dimensions to more easily review and approve change requests and payment applications, saving them time by eliminating the need to re-review information.
