O’Hare International Airport CATCo Terminal 5 Capital Improvement Program

Overview

JWI provides program management and oversight for projects varying in size and complexity for the Terminal 5 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) at ORD. Completed projects include the addition of two TSA Checkpoint lanes at the East Ticketing Lobby, the fabrication and installation of three passenger boarding ramps, the integration of an everyday use system at the ticket counter lobby, and the installation of a fully-automated aircraft parking system at the Central Deicing Facility as well as dynamic message boards and graphics at the Terminal 5 curb front.

Our current projects include the replacement of every original passenger boarding bridge (“jetbridge”) at Terminal 5, which involves the provisioning and installation of 35 new jetbridges and the addition of 10 new gates to the East End of Terminal 5. JWI also assists in managing the manufacture and installation of new ground services equipment for aircraft once parked at the gate. These potable water cabinets, ground power units, cable hoists, pre-conditioned air units, and hose reels are necessary to facilitate efficient aircraft service.

JWI’s upcoming projects also include significant upgrades to the Security Camera system at Terminal 5, the replacement and right-sizing of HVAC equipment for Communication Rooms and Baggage Control Room, as well as the replacement of outdated display monitors at the lower level Recheck Common Use and Bag Makeup areas.

JWI provides design management, procurement, construction management, safety oversight, project controls, reporting, compliance management, and closeout management services for the CIP. We work with clients on conceptual design, schematics, design development, construction documents, and budgeting requirements. Our team assists in generating bid documents, managing the bidding process, contract management, and general oversight of the work. We’re responsible for creating status reports, participating in the RFI, change orders, paying application processes, and project scheduling. JWI generates and manages punch lists, closeout document submittals, job acceptance, and final pay applications as projects close.
